PENSACOLA NEWS JOURNAL ENDORSES SHERIFF RON MCNESBY

The Pensacola News Journal firmly believes that two-term Escambia County Sheriff Ron McNesby has clearly grown in the job, and is our pick to be elected as the next Sheriff of Escambia County. We believe that the Sheriff’s Office is running very effectively and that most voters are comfortable with Law enforcement that they believe they can depend on.

The Pensacola Association of Realtors met recently with all the Candidates campaigning for the Office of Sheriff. The Board voted and selected Sheriff Ron Mcnesby as their candidate of choice.

The Choice for Sheriff has never been more clear than now. A debate between the four candidates showed more than ever why Sheriff Ron McNesby is the best candidate to lead Escambia County into the future. During the debate, Sheriff Ron McNesby highlighted the accomplishments that have taken place during the past 7 years.

Ron McNesby: “During the past 7 years I have placed more deputies on the streets than any previous administration. I have completed a number of major accomplishments during my administration. I ordered computers be placed in every patrol car and helped create a new software program for our patrol cars called “School Smarts”, which will give every deputy quick access to the floor plans of every school along with evacuation plans. I created a Disaster Response Unit, entirely through donations, that will feed more than 3 thousand meals a day in the event of a disaster."  That Unit has received nationwide attention as one of the top Disaster Response Units in the country.

We now have a state of the art Communications Center that handles more than a quarter million calls per year. “Operation Brownsville” continues to have a major impact on reducing crime in that area and the operation is now being implemented in other parts of Escambia County. Our Air Operations continues to save lives nearly everyday.”

One opponent: “I believe Sheriff McNesby is doing a very, very good job but now I want his job.”
A Second Opponent: “I don’t think we need to have deputy cars parked in neighborhoods anymore.”

Sheriff Ron McNesby: “I have spent nearly my entire life in law enforcement. I have more experience than anyone else in this race. Our crime rate is flat, while the nation’s crime rate continues to increase. My budget has remained flat for two years and now I am now showing a savings of about 2 million dollars in the next budget. I am the best candidate to lead this county and keep your family safe.”
